Days Between Dates Calculator
Pick a start date and an end date to see the number of days between them, the same span in weeks, in years, months and days, and the number of weekdays from Monday to Friday. Tick the box to count the end date too, which adds one day. The dates are whole calendar days, so daylight saving changes can never add or lose an hour. Everything runs in your browser.

Student ToolsAbout the Days Between Dates Calculator
The Days Between Dates Calculator counts calendar days from a start date to an end date. By default the end date is not counted, so 1 to 8 October is 7 days. Tick the box to count the end date too, which is how some contracts, bookings and deadlines count, and the result is one day more. The span is also shown in weeks and days, and in years, months and days, where a month is counted from the same day number, so 31 January to 28 February is exactly one month because adding a month to 31 January gives the last day of February. The weekday count includes Monday to Friday and does not remove public holidays, because they differ by country and year. If the end date is before the start date, the tool counts from the earlier to the later date and says so. Dates are whole days in the Gregorian calendar with no time zone, so a clock change never changes a count. The results were compared with Python's datetime, dateutil and numpy on 30,000 random pairs of dates, including month ends and leap days, and matched every time. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
How do I count the days between two dates?▾
Subtract the earlier date from the later one. From 1 October to 8 October is 7 days, because the end date is not counted. If you need to count both the first and the last day, add one, which gives 8. Tick the box in the tool to switch between the two ways.
Does the calculator include the end date?▾
Not by default. The result is the number of days that pass from the start date to the end date. Tick Count the end date too to include it, which adds one day to the days, weeks and weekdays.
How are business days counted?▾
The tool counts Monday to Friday. It does not remove public holidays or other days off, because they depend on the country and the year. Subtract holidays yourself if you need working days.
Why is 31 January to 28 February one month?▾
Because the tool counts a month from the same day number, and adding one month to 31 January gives the last day of February. So the whole span from 31 January to 28 February is one month and no extra days.
Is my data uploaded?▾
No. The calculation runs in your browser, and the dates you pick are not sent anywhere or stored.
