About the Morse Code Translator

The Morse Code Translator converts between plain text and International Morse code. Letters are written as groups of dots and dashes separated by a space, and words are separated by a slash, for example "... --- ..." for SOS and ".... . .-.. .-.. --- / .-- --- .-. .-.. -.." for HELLO WORLD. The tool covers the letters A to Z, the digits 0 to 9, and common punctuation such as the period, comma, question mark, apostrophe, slash, parentheses, colon, and at sign. When translating Morse to text, words can be separated by a slash, a vertical bar, or three or more spaces, and the middle dot and en dash characters are accepted in place of the dot and hyphen. Characters with no Morse equivalent, such as accented letters, are skipped and listed so nothing disappears silently. The Play Audio button sounds the code using the standard timing in which a dash lasts three times as long as a dot, with longer gaps between letters and words. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
